At the global box office last week The Martian retained its lead over the box office in convincing style outgrossing the number 2 film by more than double.

A $95 million global take brings from 75 countries takes its global gross to $227.7 million after 2 weeks of release and is set to be one of Ridley Scott's top films.

The Martian is by far the widest release at the moment.

Highest new film to the top 10 is Pan which makes its debut at number 3 with £36 million, including previews the previous week this brings the film total global gross to $40.6 million.<> Top overall grossing film on the global box office this week is Inside Out from Pixar which is still showing in 22 countries and has taken a total of $818 million.
