As with the first movie, The Meg, the followup stars Jason Statham who has previously starred in Fast & Furious 7 and Cellular, the movie also stars Sienna Guillory who has appeared in Resident Evil: Afterlife and Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang).

Taking over on directing duties this time is Ben Wheatley who has previously directed Sightseers and Rebecca.
