Director Danny Boyle returns to the horror series that made it a household name (well maybe
Trainspotting did!) with
28 Years Later and the much anticipated movie tops the UK box office on its debut.
The Oscar winning director ducked out of the series second movie 28 Weeks Late and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took on directing duties, but he brought the series to life in 2002 with 28 Days Later.
The movie takes a fantastic £4.7 Million on its debut which is better than the previous two movies combined.
Last weeks top movie, How to Train Your Dragon, drop to number 2 this week after only a single weekend at the top, although with the school summer holidays just round the corner a longer stay, and maybe return to the top, is likely.
Elio from Disney and Pixar falls short this weekend and can only manage a top 3 entry at 3 with just under a million debut - although with the school holidays around the corner - and good reviews - it could hang around.
